Water

One of the many things I had a hard time getting used to is the water situation. See in Michigan we had some of the best drinking water in the country. So for almost all my life we drank water out of the faucet. We never bought a water and never got sick from it.

In puerto Rico the water is not good. I remember when we visited my mom never let us drink water unless it was filtered or bottled. She got real sick one time and it ruined her whole trip. And we have had friends that came to puerto Rico get sick from drinking the water.

When we moved here and stayed in a hotel we tried to always have water in the room. One night we didn't have enough water but we drank what we had (the hotel did not have a vending machine :-( ) and went to sleep. Then in the middle of the night I was super thirsty and dehydrated. It was in the summertime and with the humidity it was in the high 90's so I was sweating a lot and not drinking enough water. That's the worst feeling! So I drank out of the faucet out of desperation. I didn't drink much just enough for my tongue to get moist and get rid of the dryness in my throat. So that was a priority for me. So we made sure to always have extra water and was buying about 7 gallons or more a week. That was starting to add up. So we bought juices and pop/soda too which I never drank in the states and thus contributed to my weight gain.

We didn't stay long on our first place we moved to another apartment and we love it enough to fix it and add things to it. We bought a filter for the faucet and then we bright another filter from britta. So now I can drink as I please and what a nice feeling that is.

Especially since I am on a mission To loose weight and get my hair and face back in good shape. Water is so important for all of that. I hear that in the dominican republic the water system is worse :-( in puerto Rico they are working on having a better water system and I hope that the DR can work on theirs too. WOW this post is long feeling chatty today but I hope this helps when you come visit to always stay hydrated and have water.
