Gab and I love to eat fish. In Michigan we would go fishing and catch perch which was his favorite. At the grocery store we would get cat fish and other fishes. Here it's different.
We barely find catfish. We don't find perch. They have a lot of tilapia and bass. Oh how I miss a good cat fish sandwich with tartar sauce. Another fish they have but it's expensive is snapper. But the seafood department is pretty depressing and the fish they do have 95% of the time comes from somewhere else that's not puerto Rico
So this day we wanted something new and fresh so we drove to dorado Par. And just drove down the beach and we came across this guy who had fish hanging out. There was only one problem when we asked what he had he said a bunch of names we didn't know in Spanish so I asked if he knew their names in english and he said no.
So that was frustrating, not knowing what your are eating even if we wanted to be adventurous I still wanted to google recipes using the name of the fish. So we went with the only fish we recognized which was snapper. Which sucks because they have this at the grocery store we could have saved the gas. But at least it was fresh and we helped a local fisherman.
But we really need to learn our fishes around here and discover new things. Also learn more spanish lol So when we do I will post about it. The snapper was good a little fishy but we will try again next time :-)
