Before we got to puerto Rico a lot of people warned us about the economy and how bad it was so I started applying for work and different american retail stores since I already had an address to use. About 2 months later I got a job at old navy. And my husband had established some contacts with construction companies so he got work right away even with him not knowing Spanish because the bosses/foremen spoke fluent English. So if you WANT to work you will find something. Might not be your dream job or pay but it will get your bills covered and some food in your tummy. But it will take patience and having savings is important since most of the world is struggling economically. Keeping your expenses small and prioritizing is important. Once you find a job and start bringing in income then you can splurge and treat yourself here and there. Nothing worse than having more stress than what you already have.
We wanted to live a simple island life so we wanted to Leave all the hecticness (is this even a word lol u get my point) behind. So do your research where ever you move before and remember being bilingual is a plus though my Spanish well that's a whole different post lol :-)
